Retirement Plan Development

Developing the "correct" retirement plan can be a difficult and confusing process. The driving factor in any type of retirement plan design are the goals and objectives of the employer. Factors to discuss (not an all-inclusive list) include:

• Frequency, magnitude, and flexibility of contributions.
• Requirement of employer contributions.
• Desire to favor certain employees in a non-discriminatory manner.
• Vesting requirements.
• Ongoing cost.
• Investment structure.

There is no "correct" answer to the right type of plan design. It is a process of listening to the client's objectives, providing several alternative solutions, and discussing the advantages and disadvantages of each possible solution.
